New Training Platform for Professionals Supporting Unaccompanied Migrant Minors Revealed at Conference

September 11, 2023

Created in collaboration with five partners, the training platform will enable professionals to effectively support vulnerable children and young adults.

As part of a consortium, SGS attended the 4 ONE ANOTHER final conference to present a new training platform developed by the six partners. Co-funded by Erasmus+, the 4 ONE ANOTHER program partners with asylum seekers, refugees and unaccompanied children for their effective integration into society.

The consortium consists of:

  • FHS Kufstein Tirol Bildungs GMBH (Austria)
  • Fondazione L Albero Della Vita Onlus (italy)
  • Lidi Smart Solutions (Netherlands)
  • United Societies of Balkans (Greece)
  • Pour la solidarite ASBL (Belgium)
  • SGS Tecnos SA (Spain)

Migrant children, especially unaccompanied ones, face more risks than adults and on reaching 18, their child-focused support and housing often decrease significantly. Professionals in reception centers play a crucial role in providing these children with the skills for successful integration. They need to be equipped with the right knowledge and abilities to cater to their diverse needs.

To bridge this skills and knowledge gap, the consortium developed a training program for professionals. This program aims to equip them with tools for integration support, psychosocial aid, fostering acculturation, guiding towards independence and providing education paths. It also aims to create awareness to dissolve prejudices and fears about these children, facilitating their societal acceptance.

The final conference was held on June 26, 2023, at the European Think Tank Pour la Solidarité in Brussels, Belgium, and was attended by eminent people in the field, including the President of the Standing Group on Immigration and Integration of the European Economic and Social Committee and General Coordinator of the Brussels Sociopolitical Coordination Council, among others. A number of different tools to support the project were presented and it was an opportunity for various players to network and collaborate.
